Residential Waste Collection

Service Information - Montgomery County, Alabama

Garbage Collection

  • Garbage collection is once per week.
  • Each home is provided a 95- or 96-gallon rollout cart.  All garbage must be contained in the cart. Additional carts can be requested, additional rates apply. Additional carts cannot be used for another residential address other than the home designated, no sharing of carts.
  • Carts should be on the curb, or the designated collection area, by 7am on collection day to ensure service.  For a variety of reasons, Amwaste route trucks will have varying collection times and may not service each home at the same time every week.

Trash Collection

  • Brush collection is provided on garbage collection day.
  • Each home has a two cubic yard limit per week.
  • Trash should be set out beside the garbage cart.
  • Small items such as leaves and grass must be bagged.
  • Limbs cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter or 4 feet in length, and must be bundled.
  • Bags must not exceed 50 pounds

Payment Options

  • Pay online at amwaste.net.  You will need your most recent invoice to do a one-time setup.
  • ACH draft from a checking or savings account.  Please contact us for a registration form.
  • Pay with a debit or credit card.  Call our customer service number above.
  • By check or money order.  You can mail it to the address on your invoice or visit our office at the address above.  Amwaste does not accept cash payments.
  • Payment is due the 15th of the first month of each quarter.

Holiday Service Schedule
Should a collection day fall on or after a holiday, services will be delayed one day for the holiday week.  If a collection day is before a holiday, service days will not be affected.  For example, if Christmas Day is on a Tuesday, the Monday route will run as normal.  All other days will run one day later. Holidays observed are:  New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Pickens County

Residential Waste Collection

Garbage Collection

  • Garbage collection is once per week.
  • All garbage must be bagged or containerized.  There is a seven-bag limit per home.  Participation is mandatory by State Law and County Ordinance.
  • Bags or cans must be sturdy enough to prevent spillage or breaking.  Bags should not exceed 35 pounds.
  • Bags or cans should be on the curb, or the designated collection area, by 7am on collection day to ensure service.  For a variety of reasons, Amwaste route trucks will have varying collection times and may not service each home at the same time every week.
  • Social Security Exemptions are available.  Registration is annually beginning in October and ending mid-December every year.  All exemptions are approved on an annual basis and must be applied for annually and all conditions met.

  • Back door service and private drive service are available, additional rates apply.  Amwaste is not responsible for damage to private drives for these services.  This service is optional and additional to the resident and is not part of the standard service.
  • Carts should be on the curb, or the designated collection area, by 7am on collection day to ensure service.  For a variety of reasons, Amwaste route trucks will have varying collection times and may not service each home at the same time every week.

Waste, Trash, and Recycle Collection

Garbage Collection

  • Garbage collection is twice per week, either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday. Please refer to the service day maps.
  • Each home is provided a 95- or 96-gallon rollout cart. All garbage must be placed in the cart. Additional carts can be requested, additional rates apply.
  • Carts should be on the curb, or the designated collection area, by 7am on collection day to ensure service. For a variety of reasons, Amwaste route trucks will have varying collection times and may not service each home at the same time every week. Once the new routes are established, a more consistent collection time will begin to occur. Collection times for the second service day will not necessarily occur at the same time as the first collection day.
  • On holiday weeks, only one collection will occur for residents who have the holiday fall on one of their garbage service days.

Trash and Bulk Collection

  • Trash collection is once per week. Please refer to the Trash and Bulk map below for the scheduled service day for each area.
  • Collection per home is limited to four cubic yards. Should more be placed at the curb, four yards will be collected and the remainder will be collected the following week(s) at 4 cubic yard increments until all waste is removed. Residents may directly contract with Amwaste to schedule delivery of a rolloff container for large volume projects.
  • Trash, bulk or debris generated by the work of a contractor will not be collected. All contractors licensed to work in the City of Saraland are required to remove the waste as part of the work they perform.

Recycle Collection

  • Recycle will be collected on the second garbage service day of the week. If garbage collection service days are Monday and Thursday, recycle collection is Thursday. For Tuesday and Friday residents, recycle collection is Friday.
  • Only acceptable items will be collected. Please refer to acceptable items list.
  • Recycle items not fitting in the bin can be placed in other containers and set out with the bin. Please do not place recycle items in plastic bags. Plastic bags are not accepted.
